The 8 steps to install a New Air Spring on Your Vehicle

Replacing a broken air spring may require the help of a mechanic, but you can cut down your expenses by simply installing it yourself.

1:  Park your car on a level surface and lift it using a floor jack. Place the jack stand under the vehicle for support.
2: Remove the nuts one by one and remove the wheels. Use a wrench to perform this procedure.
3: Open the air port on the top and empty the air spring.
4: Remove a set of fasteners that hold the air spring in place. These bolts are usually found on the control arm and under the hood. Remember that the steps to remove the air spring vary from vehicle to vehicle, so be sure to consult your owner's manual to know exactly how you removed it.
5: Carefully remove the old air spring from the shock. If necessary, use a spring compressor to make disassembly easier. You can reuse the O-ring that connects the air spring to the impact.
6: Place a new air spring where you remove the old air spring.
7: Use an O-ring that was previously removed to reconnect it to a shock. Make sure to apply lubricant on them before putting them back.
8: Reattach all the components that you removed. Check again for missing bolts, nuts and fittings.
